WORLD EVANGELISM FUND (WEF)
WORLD EVANGELISM FUND (WEF)
World Evangelism giving fuels the Church of the Nazarene’s mission by combining each person’s and church’s gifts to fund ministries everywhere. Every church is asked to share a portion of its total income for the purpose of making Christlike disciples in the nations.
Here are a few examples of ministries that your World Evangelism giving makes possible through direct funding of ministry network support:
• New churches and ministry outposts
• Missionaries
• Regional ministries
• Christian literature and resources
• Holiness education
• Partner ministries such as JESUS Film Harvest Partners, Nazarene
• Compassionate Ministries, and many more.
ALABASTER BOXES
The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots."
Alabaster funds are to be used for new churches to:
• Purchase a property or church building
• Purchase or build a church parsonage
• Build a church building
• Conversion of a property into a church gathering space
• Meet initial costs for renting a church meeting space for a limited
period
Alabaster funds may also be used to:
• Purchase or build missionary homes
• Purchase or build regional or field missions facilities
• Build or repurpose buildings on Bible college campuses
WORK/WITNESS TRIPS
As a church that loves supporting missionaries, we also love going and being a part of the mission and seeing God's work at hand. See below Ontario Nazarene's most recent trips where we've touched down around the globe!
GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA
Ontario First Nazarene Church is scheduled for a Work and Witness mission project for Guatemala in early March, 2024. During the 9-day trip we will be partnering with churches in the region and giving support for construction projects such as adding a roof to a sanctuary, working on an initial structure (think pole barn but with all metal construction), or on a pastor's home.
We will also be engaging with the Maxima teams of young adults (15-40) from Guatemala who are trained, prepared, and willing to serve on a mission trip. They partner with folks from the US, and they will be training our team in evangelism tools, visiting from home to home with local Nazarene church people making community connections, and helping with children's ministry/outreach. These activities are usually highlights with mission teams from the US.
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND
June of 2012 an OFCN Work & Witness team ventured to Manchester, England for a 10 day work project on the campus of the Nazarene Theological College UK. Our group of 18 divided into two teams. Our first team worked on various campus projects including replacing windows, building a copula, painting, IT work, cooking for ourselves, and some yard work. Our housing was provided in the on campus dorms.
Our team second team went on to a Nazarene church in Wales, led by Pastor Connie. While there her team also did IT work for Connie’s pastor friends and moved the church office to another part of the church building. On Sunday both teams met for the church service in Wales. The afternoon was spent in “Messy Church” (a form of VBS) for the neighborhood children.
It was a very successful Work & Witness trip. One worth repeating!
MANTA, ECUADOR
In the summer of 2016, a group of 23 from Ontario Nazarene traveled to Manta, Ecuador, to assist a group of North/South American Nazarene missionaries in starting a new church plant.
One of our goals was to deliver musical instruments which had been donated to our music ministry, but were not needed locally. One of the first things we did was a city prayer walk to different parts of the city.
Another goal was to interact with Manta's earthquake refugee camps which were set up that spring after the devastating quake further north of Manta. We served meals, gave out Crisis Care Kits, and held services. We also visited an elementary school giving out food supplies and had a fun program. Another visit was to a local high school with a gospel ministry. We were able to see the church’s very first ministry event, as well as church service!
The church in Manta, Ecuador is still in effect today and has a building where they can meet. God is so good!
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD (OCC)
Ontario Nazarene has been involved with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) since 2006 and we absolutely love it! OCC is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
To get involved and pack your own shoebox through our drop off location, watch for announcements around late October!
